So I’m doing something new this year and participating in 30 days of biking for team #LovingTheBike.
What is 30 days of biking?
This is from the “event” website:
Join us by biking somewhere every day for 30 days this April—around the block, 20 miles to work, whatever suits you—then share your adventures online. The response 30 Days of Biking has received has been staggering. People love bikes and want to ride every day. The movement just gave their desire a name—and a month.
We hope you’ll join us! You can register for 30 Days of Biking on our Pledge page.
So essentially it is just a personal challenge to bike every day for 30 days, each day in April. Personally I think that 5 days is the most I have ever ridden back-to-back and so 30 is definitely going to be an interesting challenge. As busy as I have been over the past couple of months I also expect that several of these will indeed be around the block rides or quick spins on the indoor trainer setup as a recovery.
However, there is also a new Strava challenge going on during the month of April that I think would be a monumental accomplishment. It’s called the “Spring Classics Challenge from Specialized“.
This Strava challenge is to ride a total of 820 miles during the month of April. That breaks down to 27.33 miles each day…
Holy smokes!
I’ve been trying to build up my legs this month to prepare for the intense beating that will be, but I don’t know if I will be ready. December, January and February saw almost no riding at all, so jumping up to a goal of 400 this month and 820 next month is kind of absurd. I don’t really think I’ll make it to 820, but I think it would be fun to see how close I can get since I’m already riding all 30 days of the month.
Anyway, thats my plan a tagteam coalition of 30 days of biking and the Strava Spring Classics Challenge for April. It’s going to be a big month of riding.
What have you got planned for April? Are you joining the 30 days of biking or Strava’s Spring Classics Challenge? Sound off in the comments, lets support each others riding!

I’m going to take this on. I’m in the same boat as you though, I can probably count on both hands how many times I’ve ridden since December, and I’m not sure how I’ll handle the days that I’m out on jobs for full days, in fact I have a couple of multi-days coming up… is it unprofessional to have my bike on the car when I’m on the job??? Oh well, here we go…
Awesome! Welcome aboard!
I don’t think it would be unprofessional. Just tell them about the 30 days of biking, they will probably think its pretty cool.
