Learn New Mountain Bike Skills

If you want to be a better mountain biker you’re in the right place.

At Texas Mountain Bike Trails we will give you simple and actionable tips to improve your mountain bike skills. From perfecting your technique to overcoming mental challenges. Our goal is to show you how to become a better rider.

Is this site only for Texas riders?

No way!

Texas Mountain Bike Trails is for everyone. Only a small portion of the content is about Texas. The focus of the site is just like the title says, to help beginner (and veteren) mountain bikers conquer new trails.

So how do we do that?

By giving premium tips, guides, training advice and mental hacks that help you increase your skill.

Not sure what cadence is or what it has to do with mountain biking? We cover that.

What about how often you should eat on an endurance ride? Yep, we have that too.

If that sounds helpful, enter your email address to get updates and our premium tips delivered right to your inbox.

How Has Texas Mountain Bike Trails Helped Other Riders?

“I am loving the info on your site, and your passion for mountain biking is making me ashamed to be a lazy ass and gets me up and on my bike, so that is good.”
-SEAN

“I am mostly a road rider, but have been wanting to get out on the trails more often.  Thanks for giving me the push that I needed to get out more.”
-JEREMY

I love all things MTB too, and love the post.  Thanks Shawn!  And, it’s always fun to mix it up…road, trail, single speed… Always something to look forward to!

Who Is Shawn McAfee?

I have been in and around competitive cycling for nearly 10 years. I spent my college years competing with the UNT Triathlon Club and riding road bikes. After getting fed up with running I stuck to my bike and just rode until I couldn’t stand another mile of pavement.

That is when my life changed. I bought a Felt Q620 mountain bike, the first mountain bike I had owned since I was 13. I began riding, racing and documenting every trail and tactic along the way. I’m now on a new mountain bike, a Giant Anthem X29er and have ridden thousands of miles. My passion has finally been uncovered. It was always there, it was just under the trees and racing the sun on smooth hard-packed singletrack.

Shawn McAfee - Texas Mountain Bike Trails“I believe that life is an adventure best experienced on two wheels.

Unfortunately we can’t always be on our bikes, but I hope to inspire others to begin mountain biking and to fall as deeply in love with it as I have.”

Now, I want to share what I have learned with you through Texas Mountain Bike Trails. To make you a better rider, and to spread the passion for mountain biking from one person to another.

I can definitely say I am not a pro rider, nor semi pro, not even a pro wanna-be. I’m just an average guy with an incredible passion for bicycles.
