This is an ideal trail to put in long cross country training rides to set your endurance base. Very few rocks but plenty of roots, Erwin Park provides a challenge for the new rider and a fun fast paced run for those more experienced. Texas mountain bikers will enjoy the multiple log crossings and whoop-de-doos while crossing through dried up river beds.

During summer months the open prairie sections will have the sun beating you up quite a bit. Be sure to pack an extra Polar water bottle or overfill that Camelbak, you will need it.

Erwin Park has several gazebos and picnic areas for the afternoon lunch or mid ride snack plus flush toilets, and camping through the city of McKinney Parks and Recreation Department.
