November 2nd, the greatest event to attend all year is happening in Farmersville.
Ride The NETT!
I’m not exaggerating. This is going to be an amazing-incredible event on a brand new trail that I practically guarantee you haven’t ridden. So great it warrants the impromptu merging of the words amazing and incredible! Kevin Lee and the Spinistry has put together an awesome collection of routes that will take you from Farmersville to about as far as you want.
You may remember when our pal Dean Nix went for a three day leg stretcher that covered 270 miles of rail to trail along the Northeast Texas Trail. Well, now Kevin Lee and The Spinistry have a ground breaking ride that is getting the trail, the communities, and local riders some major attention.
Similar to Dean’s NETT Awareness Ride, this ride is put together in order to bring additional exposure and awareness to the project that the NETT Coalition has put together. The ride will feature something for everyone and will be a chance to show the great small towns along the route what a great thing this could be for their town. The city of Farmersville is practically rolling out the red carpet for us and their town is very cycling friendly already.
Check out the signup for it here: https://www.bikereg.com/net/ride-the-nett
For those of you who are looking for a light spin check out the 27 miler that goes from Farmersville to Celeste and back.
Slightly more adventurous has the 50 & 70 mile routes available. My vote is for the 70 miler which makes a stop at Glorias Kitchen and has PIE in Ladonia!
Then there are the crazy people with routes of 112 miles or further if they want to push on solo to Paris or New Boston.
All of this (unless you break off solo) is fully supported by The Spinistry, Cadence Cyclery, NETT coalition, cities like Farmersville and rumor has it DORBA!
Registration is only $30 and you get a free T-shirt as well. We are hoping to have a large turnout of enthusiastic, super stoked cyclists that help to show the locals how great the cycling culture is and how much fun it will be having us come through their town.
So to sum up, just three words…
Bikes. Fun. Pie.
Life doesn’t get any better folks. I hope to see you out there.
