The Sufferfest - Hardcore Bicycle Training Videos

The Sufferfest – Hardcore Bike Training

Today I want to share one of the premier training products that I have come across. I talked not too long ago about how to keep up your training during the winter, and one of the best ways to do that is to use an indoor trainer or spin bike.

Well, I actually recieved a spin bike as a Christmas present from my most-excellent wife and have been putting in a lot of hours on it, especially with the recent rain.

I have always dreaded indoor training because of the monotony and boredom that comes with it. I’ve tried several DVDs and training guides, watched TV and movies, or even kept up-to-date with blogs and news. Always boring. But, then I read a review about The Sufferfest from Darryl at LovingTheBike.

Revolutionary, Massively-Intense Training

This set of videos caught my eye with their very unique… culture. Their videos come from the far away land of Sufferlandria and abide by the motto “I will beat my a** today to kick yours tomorrow,” or IWBMATTKYT as they like to call it. That’s a pretty aggressive tagline and I love the made up country. They also refer to the place where you train as your “Bike Torture Chamber“.

Seriously.

I was 100% sold on just their culture alone before I even saw the videos. At this point, I have picked up a couple of the videos and at only $12 a copy it’s worth it to try at least one. Currently, I have Angels, Fight Club, and my favorite… The Downward Spiral which has a warm-up on a mountain bike and a brief recovery on a cyclocross bike. Thats my kind of video!

So I’m sure you want to know what I thought… Well, I got carried away with my enthusiasm for this product and actually put together this quick promo video for it. Check it out.

Needless to say, I am completely loving these training videos.

So what’s in these hardcore training sessions?

The Sufferfest throws some seriously tough stuff at you.

Downward Spiral has you doing two 17-minute interval sessions at maximum effort. After the first round, my legs feel like toast. Fight Club gives you 6 rounds of time trial (100%) effort with attacks from other riders that you have to fend off. The Angels video should be called Demons – it’s nothing but long extended climbing.

Each video gives you a very entertaining way to ramp up your training and I will guarantee that if you train with these once a week, you are going to see some dramatic improvements in your sprinting, climbing, and overall endurance.

What I like about these training videos, besides the flat-out challenge, is that they are all made using real race footage. Seeing Alberto Contador and Andy Schleck surging past you really helps give a little perspective as to why your legs are currently screaming at you.

There is also a pretty great soundtrack on each of these videos that keeps you pumped up and gives you a good rhythm to pedal to.

I fully recommend this product as the best indoor training I have ever found.

If you do give it a try, the good folks from “Sufferlandria” have been gracious enough to set up a referral program with me. You can buy any of their gear or videos directly through this Sufferfest link and it will give me a small percentage of the sale. For those of you that do purchase, or have purchased something in the past, it really means a lot to me personally, so a HUGE thank you from me to you.

If you do make a purchase of a Sufferfest video, or if you have used them in the past, please leave a comment below and let everyone else know what you thought.
